Exclusive — Freedom Caucus Chair Mark Meadows: Republicans Will Only Succeed if They ‘Get Behind the Trump Agenda’

Oct 11, 2017
In The News

Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-NC) told Breitbart News that Republicans will only succeed in the midterm elections if “they get behind the Trump agenda.”

The congressman said that the Freedom Caucus remains committed to passing a dynamic tax reform package for middle-class families as well as repealing and replacing Obamacare. Meadows also cheered the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed repeal of Obama’s Clean Power Plan.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt announced on Tuesday that he will propose to repeal the Obama administration’s Clean Power Plan (CPP). An EPA analysis revealed that repealing the Clean Power Plan will save roughly $33 billion in compliance costs in 2030.

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-NC) cheered the EPA’s repeal of the Clean Power Plan. Meadows said, “Well it’s a good day for businesses across the country and not just in coal country when we really look at the compliance costs and economics of compliance a lot of times the cost benefits that was done under the previous administration would take credit for things that the rules and regulations accounted for and yet really didn’t take consideration for the cost and emphasize of that particular administrative action. I look at this repeal as a welcome day not just for coal country but all businesses in making sure that we have proper accounting for the cost-benefit analysis.”

Meadows added, “We should really focus on an American First agenda, and these climate pacts and climate regulations have been designed to not necessarily give American workers and the American environment a head start. It really gives our competition a greater ability to compete internationally and disadvantage American companies. I look forward to a reset that still emphasizes clean air and clean water.”

Meadows told Breitbart News that he remains optimistic about Congress’ ability to pass a tax reform package.

One thing that Washington D.C. does not do well is cut spending. We have to get the economy going again and getting tax cuts to wage earners and make sure that our businesses are competitive again. I’m optimistic that despite the rhetoric that we’re hearing, we’re going to be deliver finally on a major campaign promise that the president made to the American people, and that is to put more money back in Americans’ pockets.” Meadows said. “It is critically important that we deliver on tax reform. I believe it is bold and aggressive it may increase the deficit in the short-run, but over the long-term, the economic growth and the power of unleashing economic power of the American worker will certainly help us balance our budgets that Congress has never been able to do with just cutting the budget and limit the spending.

The House Freedom Caucus chairman then revealed that he and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) will try to find Democrats to work with and who want to pass a tax reform package. The North Carolina congressman explained, “I can tell you that Jim Jordan and I are working to identify a number of Democrats in the House and the Senate to work with that will truly tax reform bipartisan which will put more money in the middle-income wage earner’s pockets. This should be a bipartisan topic. I want to make sure that we have a tax code that makes sure that everyone benefits, including those in poverty and those middle-income wage earners and those that have already lived the American dream as well as making sure that everyone can receive the benefits of a robust economy and not just the select few.”

President Donald Trump plans to sign an executive order that will lower health care prices. Given that Obamacare repeal has stalled in Congress, the president declared that he will take executive action to alleviate Americans’ skyrocketing premiums and deductibles created thanks to Obamacare.

President Trump worked with Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on an executive action that would expand Association Health Plans (AHPs) that would allow small groups, small businesses, and individuals to band together to create their own health insurance pools.

Chairman Meadows cheered Sen. Pauls’ initiative to lower Americans’ health care costs. Meadows told Breitbart News:

Rand Paul has done a very good job of focusing on association plans, and that goes back for eight or nine months. It has been my belief that since we did not get it done through the legislative initiatives that the president through the rulemaking authority that exists under the Affordable Care Act can put forth the ability for associations to provide insurance policy. It will put down real pressure to bring down premiums I applaud the effort and fully support it.

I will tell you that the president is serious about making sure that premiums get lowered so whether it is executive action on association plans or other executive actions, this administration continues to contemplate other actions as a backup in case Congress failed on repeal and replacement efforts. I think you’re going to see a real push to make sure premiums come down form this administration. It’s critically important that executive action will be followed with real legislation that lowers premiums and codifies them in law and not just an executive order that can be repealed through future administrations but we can get them in law while we have the majority in the house and the Senate and control the white house.

Breitbart News reported on the “league of extraordinary candidates,” which consists of populist Republican candidates who remain committed to accomplishing the president’s agenda. Meadows argued that the only Republican candidates that will succeed in the midterm elections are those that “are willing to get behind the Trump agenda.”

Meadow told Breitbart News:

The fundamental question for Republican running all across the country is: are you going to stand with the American people like the president campaigned on and won on November 8? Or are you going to just talk about standing with the American people? The American voter is not going to accept talk any longer. It’s time to show the real proof of each candidate is made of and how they will fulfill that promise.

I think that the anger and the frustration that is prevalent still on the main streets across America will have a profound effect on the midterm elections and Republicans will only succeed if they get behind the Trump agenda.

Meadows explained that the Freedom Caucus remains committed to passing tax reform and passing an Obamacare repeal package. Meadows told Breitbart News that some Freedom Caucus members continue to look towards attaching an Obamacare repeal bill in must-pass legislation. Meadows said, “Well we’re obviously focused on tax reform, and we got to push even harder for a repeal and replacement effort, and there’s a number of us that are working on other ways to make sure that we attach repeal bills to must-pass legislation. Another emphasis for the Freedom Caucus is trying to support the president and identifying those regulations that have to be rolled back.”

Meadows concluded, “It’s all about representing the forgotten men and women, to make sure that they have a voice and members of the Freedom Caucus take that very seriously.”

Article V Con-Con Proponents Want to “Clarify” the Second Amendment

The New American – It is on the agenda of the Convention of States Project to “clarify” the wording of the Second Amendment.

When Congress passed the Sedition Act in 1798, limiting freedom of speech and freedom of the press, Congressman Nathaniel Macon of North Carolina was dumbfounded, asking how could they have so ignored the clear wording of the First Amendment. The First Amendment clearly stated that Congress was forbidden to make any law abridging either freedom of speech or freedom of the press. Yet, only seven years after the First Amendment was ratified, Congress did just that. We should keep this in mind when we consider the movement to call for a national convention to consider amendments to the Constitution, in order to rein in the federal government.

In a recent Facebook post on the Convention of States Project (a leading group pushing for a national convention to consider amendments to the Constitution) page, someone asked, “Why not include an update to the second amendment in COS? Gun control advocates wear out the point that it was written when people had only muskets, so why not make it read the way we want it to read now?” The questioner certainly had a great point. I would add this question for the enemies of the right to keep and bear arms: If the Second Amendment protects only weapons in use in 1791, does that mean that newspapers may use only printing presses that were in existence at the time, as well?

The response of the Convention of States Project is troubling. “It’s called a ‘Clarification Clause,’ Rick, and that’s very much on the agenda of any number of the study groups that are currently being conducted around the country composed of COS Project advocates and their state legislators.” (Emphasis added.) In other words, it is very much on the agenda of the COS to alter the wording of the Second Amendment, in order to “clarify” its language for how they want it to read now.

Canada Wants a “Progressive” NAFTA to Promote Agenda 21/2030

Sure this is a great idea if, you love Communism and ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT!

The New American – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (shown) will meet with President Trump next week for the fourth round of NAFTA talks scheduled for October 11-15, 2017 in Washington, D.C.

As previously reported in The New American, Canada is pushing for progressive changes to NAFTA, which President Trump has previously labeled as the “worst trade deal” ever signed, and has even threatened to withdraw from unless he could renegotiate a “better” deal.

“Personally, I don’t think we can make a deal because we have been so badly taken advantage of,” President Trump said at a rally in Phoenix on August 22 regarding the renegotiation of NAFTA. “They [Canada and Mexico] have made such great deals — both of the countries, but particularly Mexico — that I don’t think we can make a deal. So I think we’ll end up probably terminating NAFTA at some point.”

Canada’s far-reaching progressive demands include strengthening existing labor standards and safeguards, abolishing U.S. right-to-work laws, adding new chapters on the rights of indigenous peoples and gender equality, toughening environmental standards, and addressing global warming/climate change.

Regarding the new “gender” chapters that Canada seeks to add to NAFTA, Canada’s ruling Liberal Party wants, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) News, a “feminist North America Free Trade Agreement.”

Although the text of this proposed gender chapter remains secretive, it is said to be “modeled after the gender chapter the Liberal government added to its free trade deal with Chile,” according to the CBC News report. This refers to the 1997 bilateral free-trade agreement between Canada and Chile known as the Canada-Chile Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA).

House panel approves $10B for border wall

The House Homeland Security Committee approved Wednesday a border security bill that includes $10 billion for a border wall.

The Border Security for America Act, proposed by committee Chairman Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), was passed along party lines, 18-12.

I just wanted to let you know that I had to change the date of the 4th Annual Republican Party’s golf tournament from Oct. 14th to Oct. 28th. It still is on a Saturday. I changed the date due to many conflicting events going on.

This years event, seems to be a “Meet your elected official” golf tournament with Deanna Ballard, our State Senator singing our National Anthem and our County Commissioner doing an opening invocation. Our Sheriff Alan Jones will play unless called out for an emergency and we have at least one team from the Sheriff’s office and possible two. Aaron Barlow, our GOP Chairman and 3rd in command of the Sheriff’s Office will be playing, as well. Superior Ct. Judge Dan Kuenhert is playing on my team, along with State Representative Destin Hall. 25th circuit judges David Aycock, Clifton Smith, Robert Mullinax and possibly Clifton Smith are playing. Our District Attorney David Learner will also come on and greet people. I’m hoping that State Senator Daniel Warren will come from Burke Co. and drive the cart around and hand out beverages. He just might replace Sen. Deanna Ballard if the districts change. I’m sure there will be others showing up.

This will be a very interesting event with patriotic music being played from about 10am until the start of play at 1pm. The Sheriff’s Office is also letting us use their honor guard to present our colors during the Pledge of Allegiance. Right now, I have a full team with my wife playing on it as well, but I have several teams that need players. Can you join us now that the event’s date has changed? I need singles and doubles too. There also will be a great raffle with 4 individual rounds of golf with cart being raffled off as a door prize and two other donations worth $25 dollars each for plants and or trees etc. at a nursery. I’m giving away a driver to the person who gets the ball closest to the center line on hole 6. That’s my donation and anyone can win that. A dozen golf balls on all par three’s and lunch is provided by Cedar Rock. Last place team will get a dozen golf balls too.

Only $50 to play. What a deal.

If interested in playing, please contact Steve Bogdan at 828-726-8670

How Western Civilization Remade the World

The story of the West is a grand and unique story, but it is also a universal story. In Jerusalem and in Athens lightning struck. Socrates asked the question what is the right way for a man to live? Not an Athenian, not a Persian, not a Spartan, but a man as a man. In Jerusalem born the knowledge of a god for every human being, not a god of a city, not a god of a people, but the god for all men and all times. That light has remade the world, and that’s what we mean by western civilization.
