Ralph Hise, Sr., age 77, of West Mountain Drive in Spruce Pine died Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Brian Center Health and Rehab in Spruce Pine.
Born on March 25, 1940 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Lloyd Hise, Sr. and Pansy Thomas Hise. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie H. English.
Ralph was a charter member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. While in the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the first crew aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk where he served as a communications expert. He was retired from Henredon Furniture of Spruce Pine with thirty-seven years of service He loved his church and church family.
Ralph will be remembered for his enjoyment of going with his friends to McDonald’s for breakfast. He also enjoyed working in his flowers and working in his yard. He was a ham radio buff and a licensed Morris Code operator. He also was an avid Mitchell Mountaineer football fan.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife; Nora Hise of the home; his son; Ralph Hise, Jr and wife, Linn of Spruce Pine; his daughters; Regina Fisher and Amanda Beckner and husband, Mike all of Spruce Pine; his grandchildren; Thomas J. Hise and Deren Hise; Jamie Sampson; Meagen Hise, Brandy Hise; Rebecca Trivette and Brandy Stewart all of Spruce Pine; his sister; Rosa Horton of Burnsville; and his brothers; Lloyd Hise, Jr.; Jesse Hise; and Phillip Hise all of Spruce Pine.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Ralph Hise, Sr. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Darrin Waldroup and Rev. Luther Carver officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow the service in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt ‘Thanks’ to special nieces, Jeanette Hoyle and Lois Greenlee for their care and concern for Ralph during his illness.
